Madera, Calif…Filled with the determination that breeds true champions, top-ranked AMA Pro Grand National Flat Track rookie Mikey Avila is ready to take his rightful place on the grid for the AMA Pro Lima Half-Mile, Saturday June 30th at Allen County Fairgrounds in Lima, Ohio.

Piloting his SDI Insulation sponsored Harley-Davidson, Avila, who currently sits in second in this year’s rookie point’s battle is looking to close the gap between first and second.

“I took a top ten in the Pro singles class last year at Lima,” says Avila. “This time out I want to better that finish.  Joe Bisha, our tuner, gives me a terrific bike every race and I have been learning a lot from him.  He is great to work with, as is everyone on the SDI Insulation team.  Lima is only Round 5 in this year’s series so there is lots of time to move up in the point’s chase and that is what I am determined to do.”

The oldest form of two-wheeled competition in the country, flat track racing is the original and most uniquely American form of professional two-wheeled motorsports. As they always have, AMA Pro flat track riders finesse their machines sideways, through the turns, just inches apart from each other, at speeds over 130 mph. In short, it is truly one of the most thrilling spectacles in all of motorsports.

“The competition in the GNC Twins is really tough,” continues Avila. “There are a whole bunch of riders who can win each time out.  So far this season, there have been four different winners in four races and the racing is incredibly close.  You have to be totally on your game every second and really go for it. A single lapse in concentration can find you out of the running for the night.  I have been training a lot and that help both my riding and my concentration.  Come Saturday, we will definitely be good to go.”

In addition to SDI Insulation, Avila is sponsored by Serramonte Ford, Circle Bell Racing, Boughner Racing, Mack Daddy Racing, Galvin Precession Machining, Arai, Kal Gard, Alpinestars, Motion Pro, Westcoast Hotshoes, K&N Filters, Dickle Racing, Fox, Matrix Concepts, Works Connection, Hooper Motorsports, EBC Brakes, Allwood Construction and Moroso Construction.
